Title: Hot Pursuit
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: Anne Fletcher
Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Sofia Vergara, Matthew Del Negro
Runtime: 1 hr 27 mins

What It Is: When a straight-laced police woman named Cooper (Witherspoon) is tasked with protecting the wife of a key witness against a drug cartel boss. When not only the cartels bosses protection, but a pair of corrupt cops also take aim at Mrs. Riva (Vergara) it’s up to Officer Cooper to protect Mrs. Riva and get her to the stand to testify. This won’t be easy since her corrupt colleagues have set her up, and Mrs. Riva isn’t the most cooperative of people. Zaniness ensues as these two unlikely ladies attempt to get along long enough to complete their mission.

What We Think: Oh man is this film awful! There is no chemistry between the two lady leads, and even less comedy between the two of them. I giggled slightly once during the film and it was at a moment that wasn’t even suppose to be funny. There’s a slight twist at the end but it isn’t even worth sitting through the rest of the movie. This was Reese Witherspoon’s follow up to her Oscar nominated role in Wild. She could’ve done anything she wanted after this nomination and she chose to do this. Very disappointing.

Our Grade: F, It’s a really bad film. It isn’t funny, it isn’t charming in fact isn’t anything except a mess. A mess of bad writing, misappropriated talents, and terrible direction. Never at all does this film ever feel like something the least bit enjoyable. If you can avoid this one, do so like the plague. Obviously I can’t recommend this one to anyone in good conscience. Just go ahead and stay away from this catastrophic piece of cinema at all cost.
