Title: Infamous
MPAA Rating: Not Rated
Director: Joshua Caldwell
Starring: Bella Thorne, Jake Manley, Amber Riley
Runtime: 1 hr 40 mins

What It Is: Arielle (Thorne) is desperate to get out of her humdrum life. When she meets bad boy Dean (Jake) the two begin to see one another. When circumstances lead to them committing a crime the two go on the run. Being who she is Arielle begins to chronicle their excursion. As the fans start to swarm the Instagram page Arielle is using. But as the long arm of the law begins to realize that they are telling them exactly where they are they begin to track their movements. But will the price of fame be more then they are willing to pay?

What We Think: Yeah…I hated this. Sure it examines the nature of social media “Insta-fame” but not nearly as well as similarly themed films like Nerve. A millennial Bonnie and Clyde of sorts. Look Bella Thorne is a social media star. She is not however very good in this film. Manley for his part plays it a little too cliche “bad boy”. Perhaps that’s the script. Which was also written by director Joshua Caldwell. Honestly, this is just subpar filming made worse by cliche-riddled writing.

Our Grade: D, Go on, and pass on this. It has nothing to offer. Nothing that some other movie of a similar theme cannot deliver…and better. Dude. I don’t know what to tell you about this outside of saying this is not a good film. One that is pretty devoid of any speck of creativity, originality, or fun. I mean it certainly is not the worst film of the year but this one is very unmemorable and bleh. I really wish that some of these “films” would try just a little bit more. We’re not getting much out of them.
