Title: Last Christmas
Rating: PG-13
Director: Paul Feig
Starring: Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh
Runtime: 1 hr 43 mins

What It Is: Nothing seems to go right for young Kate, a frustrated Londoner who works as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop. But things soon take a turn for the better when she meets Tom — a handsome charmer who seems too good to be true. As the city transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, Tom and Kate’s growing attraction turns into the best gift of all — a Yuletide romance.

What We Think: Wonderful yet unexpected in some ways. If you are a fan of Emilia Clarke or Henry Golding, this is definitely a must-see film! Coming from a big Emilia Clarke fan this movie was definitely filled with a lot of laughs and I couldn’t stop smiling during certain scenes. For those that refuse to see this film because it appears to be a “chick flick” film, rest assured, this is not your typical chick flick story. Traditionally, in most “chick flick” films, the main guy or girl role typically gets the romantic interest. In this film, Emilia Clarke’s Katherina does get love, but not in the way that you would expect! With this said, there is a twist at the end of this film. Aside from the amazing acting and wonderful storyline, I also highly appreciated George Michael’s songs present throughout the film. The songs they choose helped to make this film more upbeat and fun in contrast to the sadness that tends to be present in a large portion of this film because of the character dynamic of Katherina.

Our Grade: A, is a fun film about a troubled character looking for more excitement in her life. Highly recommended film however I would have some tissues on hand. This movie might be a bit of a tear-jerker for some!
