Review: The King of the Full Moon Night

Title: The King of the Full Moon Night
Director: Christian Silva
Starring: Himie Freeman, Alex McKelvey, Blake Littleton
Runtime: 14 mins

What It Is: Memphis, 1971. A doctor (Freeman) is summoned to a mysterious house call for a sick patient (McKelvey). He arrives at a warehouse, where his patient is chained-up, revealed to be a king… The King of Rock. Elvis has a problem and it’s a full moon: there’s only a matter of time, and the doctor has to find the will to cure him.

What We Think: Through a cinematically smooth presentation and fast-paced edits, one may not expect how seriously FUN and seriously unserious this fantasy comedy is. Himie Freeman as Doc sets up a dramatic performance, juxtaposed by Alex McKelvey’s delightfully pitch-perfect portrayal of a man-childish Elvis. Frankly. With its humorous plot and chuckle-worthy dialogue from the King of Rock himself, this flick makes for a fun, late-night viewing party.

Our Grade: B, Watch with your friends, try to keep them in the dark! This is a clean, well-made low-budget short that would be a perfect addition to your Halloween watchlist, especially shorts lovers and anyone looking for that balance between fantasy and comedy.
