Title: The Hunt
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Craig Zobel
Starring: Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, Ike Barinholtz
Runtime: 1 hr 30 mins

What It Is: When a group of people awakens in a field with mouths shut they aren’t sure how they got there. One of them is Crystal (Gilpin) and she doesn’t know why she’s there. A gigantic crate lands in the field revealing itself to contain a pig and a small arsenal. But who’s behind this? Who’s trying to kill and slaughter random people in a field in an unknown location. Why are they doing this?

What We Think: So for what it’s worth this film does an incredible job of satirizing both the liberal left and the radical right. There’s an extreme trigger warning on this one as some of what’s in here will certainly upset the biggest of snowflakes on one end and the most ignorant on the other. Betty Gilpin is a straight badass. She’s great here and ever since I first became a fan of hers from GLOW. Here she is the catalyst for the utter insanity going on all around. Craig Zobel is the ringleader here and he does an admirable job keeping all this craziness together.

Our Grade: B+, If you get the chance to check this out…do it! It’s a crazy, fun time. There really isn’t much else that I can say! Even with the plot, I can’t think of a reason you shouldn’t try to check this out. Honestly, it’s easy to access since it went VOD quickly given the current state of the world. Do it! Spend the time with this interesting and sickly fun surprise. But as I said earlier…let it all play out. If it offends you. Well, that’s okay too you’re probably in all honesty part of the problem and should certainly start laughing at yourself.
