Title: Space Jam: A New Legacy
MPAA Rating: PG
Director: Malcolm Lee
Starring: LeBron James, Don Cheadle, Cedric Joe
Runtime: 1 hr 55 mins

What It Is: LeBron James (played by himself) is an NBA superstar. Multiple-time MVP. A numerous time NBA champion. He catches the attention of Warner Bros.’s new work-in-progress algorithm who’s decided to name himself Al G. Rhythm (Cheadle). When LeBron questions the algorithm and its purpose Al wants to make sure LeBron understands that he’s not to be messed with. He abducts LeBron’s son Dom (Joe) and has proposed that LeBron battle a team of his own MonStars in a winner take all basketball game for the right to exist in our current reality.

What We Think: This is without a doubt one of if not the worst films of the year. LeBron James is no Michael Jordon when it comes to acting. Frankly, that bar wasn’t really that high. Insofar as storylines and narrative this one is not only a mess but it is stupid to boot. This movie thinks the audience are a gaggle of idiots. This is because the film is aimed at children. Making the commericalism of the entire idea even more sickening.

Our Grade: F, Come years end this has a very real possibility of ending the year as the worst film of 2021. HBO MAX gave us another contender (alongside this one) with Mortal Kombat. I do not ever want to see this become a trilogy. It offers no redeeming value. No manner of common sense and even less to sink your teeth into narratively. I feel bad for people who paid money to see this in a theater. I’m not the target audience but I can assure those in that demographic hate this film too. Unless you’re in the Peppa Pig demo…then maybe this is for you. Even then stick to Peppa as oppose to this. Daffy Duck deserves better!
