Title: And Mrs.
MPA Rating: Not Yet Rated
Director: Daniel Reisinger
Starring: Aisling Bea, Billie Lourd, Susan Wokoma
Runtime: 1 hr 51 mins

What It Is: Gemma (Bea) is a reluctant bride-to-be, but one thing is certain: she loves her fiancé, Nathan (Colin Hanks). When Nathan suddenly passes away, she is heartbroken. In her grief, she becomes determined to marry the man she loves, even if he now only lives on in her mind and heart. With the help of Nathan’s eccentric sister, Audrey (Lourd), the two will take on the British legal system in a fight to marry her deceased fiancé—no matter the hoops they have to jump through.

What We Think: This is a fun little comedy with humor at just the right times and in the right places. The premise is original enough to provide fresh ground for the jokes. Aisling Bea shines in this role, making you root for her even at her worst moments. Billie Lourd is a force here, as always—I love whenever she appears in a project. There’s nothing wrong with this film; it’s a solid piece that’s competently directed. It’s actually a rather fun and quirky romcom, with the male lead implied through flashbacks and the protagonist’s memories.

Our Grade: C+, Honestly, this is just a film in a sea of films. It isn’t bad, and there’s a lot to enjoy here—it just sort of exists. It’s the kind of movie you stumble upon years later as a hidden gem, and when someone mentions it, you go, “Oh yeah, I remember that one!” That said, I still think you should check this out. It’s fun, it’s funny, and it might just give you a little spark in these uncertain times. That’s sometimes all we need to get us through our day to day. Give it a watch!
