What It Is: Danielle Sutton (Davis) is the President of the United States of America. She’s also a combat veteran. Now, she’s working to promote peace and prosperity—not just for her constituents, but for those suffering in countries beyond her own. To achieve this goal, she’ll need help from her allies in other world powers.

A G20 summit has been proposed: twenty leaders from the world’s most powerful nations will gather in one place. But what happens when a rogue terrorist with a sinister plan brings it all to a halt?

What We Think: So, it’s kind of weird—Patricia Riggen made her name with the phenomenal La misma luna, and this is a completely different beast. Viola Davis continues to be an absolute force. She’s great here, and without her, this film just wouldn’t work.

It’s pretty standard action fare—you and everyone else on Earth can predict exactly where it’s going. But Davis is such a compelling actress that you want to see her stomp a mudhole in Homelander and walk it dry.

There’s not much beyond the usual action movie elements, but what’s here is executed well.

Our Grade: C, Sure, check it out—why not? It’s not the best action film we’ve seen this year. Far from it. But it is a very entertaining movie—the kind you can turn your brain off and just enjoy.

It’s on Prime Video, so it’s easy to find. Honestly, it’s a nice little surprise coming from Riggen. When I saw she was the director, I genuinely couldn’t believe it. I’m just thankful to see her making more films.

We need more Latina directors making whatever the hell they want—not just stories they personally relate to or films that only feature Latin characters (though we definitely need more of those, too).
