Title: The Devil Wears Prada 2
MPA Rating: PG-13
Director: David Frankel
Starring: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci
Runtime: 1 hr 59 mins
What It Is: Following the events of the original film, Andy (Hathaway) has been absolutely thriving as a journalist. When a position at her old stomping grounds, Runway, opens up she just so happens to be available. When the magazine’s owner makes a call she’s selected for it. Now she’ll reunite with her old boss Miranda Priestley (Streep) and a man in Nigel (Tucci) who was a mentor to her when she was there last time. But everything has changed since last she was at Runway. Not all of it for the worst.
What We Think: Just as fun and funny as the first. There’s a crammed in romance angle that never quite works. It doesn’t destroy the other fantastic parts of this sequel that are well-earned. Streep is still incredible as Miranda and her cutting one-liners still hit just as hard. Anne Hathaway is having a helluva year. She’s got The Odyssey, Verity, and The End of Oak Street coming up and already put out the excellent Mother Mary. Each of the roles seems as different as the last. Tucci is once again an MVP. Nigel, as a character, brings so much to the films.
Our Grade: B+, I had a really good time with this film. That’s the most you can ever ask for a legacy sequel, let alone a comedy. It was like seeing old friends again. The original has become something of a classic now. I think this is absolutely worth your time to check it out. It’ll make you laugh and hits all the right nostalgia buttons for fans of the original film. And in the world of 2026, well sometimes that’s what we need to get ourselves through the day.
