What It Is: For decades now Wile E. Coyote has been trying to catch the Roadrunner. We all know this. We also know he uses A LOT of ACME products in order to make these attempts. When Wile E. spots an ad for Avery, Maltese and Jones he seeks legal counsel for a lawsuit against the corporation that’s backfired on him so many times. Now lawyer Kevin Avery (Forte) is going to have a case on his hands defending against the large conglomerate and their head of legal Buddy Crane (Cena).
What We Think: This is such a great movie. I’m so mad we almost never got it. This would make a great pairing with the classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It has that same feel and the humor is likewise. Where this differs is that unlike Roger, Wile E. doesn’t talk and can’t become an irritant. Frankly though, I don’t mind ole Roger. Will Forte is the only guy that could pull off a dysfunctional loser lawyer who has lost his passion for justice. He’s very good and very funny and the physical comedy needed here is pulled off perfectly. Likewise, Lana Condor is a great straight man for Forte. Cena works well here and his smart demeanor is well juxtaposed to both Forte and our favorite Coyote.
Our Grade: A-, I had a great time with this one. I genuinely had a tremendous amount of worry about what this film was going to be. Would it be closer to the first Space Jam or the second. Thankfully it’s great and it’s something I can absolutely recommend. This one isn’t just for the parents though, I think there’s plenty here for both the children and older kids. See this one! It’s really fun!
