What It Is: When twins Racine (Young) and Anaia (Johnson) were very young girls their mother Ruby (Fox) was burned beyond recognition by the girls’ father (Sterling K. Brown). Now many years later Ruby will use her daughters to enact revenge on the man who changed her life forever. She’s asked the girls to “kill they daddy dead.” Now they are set on an adventure to gain vengeance on the man that ruined their childhood, their mother’s appearance and the lives of plenty of others.

What We Think: What a phenomenal film. I was blown away by both lead performances and frankly Young and Johnson feel like legitimate sisters. There are scenes when they communicate non-verbally and it is incredibly put together. From both a performance and technical standpoint it’s insane. Narratively I really liked what I saw and even though it’s clear the film was based on a play that never really affects the overall production in a negative light. This is a staggering experience cinematically. The absolute lack of fear Aleshea Harris shows behind the lens is what I’d like to see from a majority of directors all the time, please.

Our Grade: A-, This is one time when a decent trailer hid the fact that what lay inside was a phenomenal cinematic experience. Kara Young carries this film on her back and it is truly a wonder why she isn’t in more things. I’d like to see her become a huge star. Sterling K. Brown is wicked and vicious and everything required of him, perfectly. Not much else to say except that this is a need to see ASAP. One of 2026’s underrated gems and a real treat for those who truly enjoy independent cinema.
