What It Is: Niki (Woodall) is an excellent piano tuner. He works with Harry (Hoffman) who’s been tuning pianos for over 50 years. What makes Niki especially adept at this is his diagnosed hyperacusis, a condition that makes his hearing super sharp and gives him a pitch perfect ear. He will also find that this makes him a stellar safe cracker. When some nefarious individuals find out about his abilities they want to exploit this for everything it’s worth. Now Niki is playing a game he may not be ready for with people who aren’t playing.
What We Think: This is a film that has everything. Romance, thrills, action, comedy. It balances everything incredibly well. Leo Woodall is doing an incredible job here. The script is tight and Daniel Roher directs the shit out of this phenomenal film. It moves in such a slick way that we as the audience are treated to a film that never overstays its welcome. Leo Woodall continues to put together superb performances. Hoffman for his part plays up Harry’s long history as a repair man in the area with charisma and a general unruly attitude. I loved him. Honestly though it’s Woodall that keeps this film grounded.
Our Grade: A, What we inevitably end up with here is a film that is inarguably one of 2026’s sleeper best. Between the breakneck direction and the diverse script there’s enough here for every type of audience and it really is a film with a wide appeal. That said there’s so much to love here. I can highly recommend you all check this out as I think you’ll love it. I can’t wait to see Roher’s follow up. Dude is such a dexterous storyteller.
